Are you looking for a simple, no prep emotions activity to build your child's emotional intelligence? Earlybird has got you covered. You can download our *free* emotions templates and visual emotion cards.
Both the templates and the cards have inclusive skin tones, hairstyles, and head coverings because representation matters. The research is conclusive that learning is amplified when kids see themselves, and their families, in the books, toys, and learning materials they use.
The research ALSO shows that kids who learn to identify and label emotions in themselves and others are better able to regulate their own feelings (aka have less tantrums) (Rivers, 2014). A really fun way to build these skills is to draw a visual emotion card, name it and build that emotion out of loose parts. You can then talk to the child about a time they felt the emotion they are building, and ask them how they worked through the feeling.
There is no need for fancy materials. This no prep emotions activity will use materials you already have around the house. You just need to print and play! This also means set up and cleaned up is a breeze. Everything on the Earlybird platform is designed to be no prep and set up in under 5 minutes using materials you already have around!
